Job Description

The Regional Market Intelligence Manager, APAC secures that knowledge-based recommendations based on sales data, consumer and shopper insights and competitive intelligence are the foundations of the APAC business strategy and execution and a key driver for Regional Marketing strategic decision making.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role and you should be comfortable wearing many hats, acting as Researcher, Analyst and Consultant, interacting with various stakeholders. It offers a unique opportunity to work as part of a relatively new team where you’ll help to build the Market Intelligence function at APAC regional level, working closely with the local Market Research a/o Intelligence Managers in our key markets (CN, AU, MY)

The position sits within the Regional Marketing Team based in Singapore and will report to the Regional Marketing Director, APAC.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide timely business reports and analyses of monthly performance of key brands and portfolios through monthly MS% reports and engages local leaders to address gaps;
  • Perform regional market / consumer research based on agreed and centrally approved methodologies via centrally contracted and managed agencies, incl. briefing/managing market research agencies and ensuring report-out;
  • Responsible for all quantitative validation of the business potential of regional innovation projects in the different stages of the innovation process (insight, concept, product) via appropriate consumer research;
  • Develop and validate insights on unlocking behaviour change based on a broad understanding of the market environment, peoples’ lives and drivers/barriers of consumer/shopper behaviour.
  • Secure local (Nielsen) databases are in line with global definitions and harmonized into one data-management system (CANARI);
  • Provide timely business reports and analyses of monthly performance of key brands and portfolios through monthly MS% reports and engages local leaders to address gaps;
  • Work closely together with Innovation Marketing, R&D (CCI) and Regional Marketing in all stages of the Innovation process. Validate the commercial potential of insights, concepts and innovations;
  • Responsible for the conception and execution of regionally initiated standardized and ad hoc research projects (U&A, Mental Availability Trackers, etc.);
  • Identify insights, innovations and trends in the market; • Creates and mines market/category/consumer ‘maps’ that help identify growth opportunities;
  • Develop and implement a portfolio of “state-of-the-art” measurement & validation tools;
  • Help define research agenda (incl. budgets) across APAC markets to ensure consistency, efficiency and synergies;
  • Help to build the Business Intelligence function within the APAC region, developing local market research capabilities;
  • Manage regional research agencies, incl. contracts & budgets;
  • Constantly explore new opportunities for business growth, based on consumer and product trends, competitive intelligence and channel insights.

Qualifications

We’re looking for an all-round Market & Consumer research professional who has the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree
  • 8 years of relevant Market & Consumer Research experience in a FMCG environment;
  • Experience in working at a strategic level, leveraging people knowledge to influence short and long-term business decisions;
  • Experience in working cross-countries/cross-cultures;
  • Able to manage complex and matrix environment
  • Understanding of key business processes and core functions, and leveragability of information;
  • Familiar with key data management systems, both data mining as well as supplier management (such as Nielsen, Kantar, …)
  • Familiar with qualitative and quantitative techniques for insight generation;
  • Familiar with (quantitative) business potential measurement of insights, concepts and new products (such as Bases, Microtest, …)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Have an ability to lead through influencing cross-functional and senior management to impact decision making
  • Analytical;
  • Working experience in Asia is a plus.
